Linen Spray...

I get giddy over this stuff. Am I the only one? A cup of tea...comfy jammies....misting my sheets with Young Living lavender...tee hee hee!!! I'm excited! I filled the sprayer with water and added 8 drops of lavender. Need I say more? It's HEAVEN! So simple!

I thought something like this would make a nice gift too, and after reading reviews I wanted to have experience with the sprayers, so I bought two. (Thaaaaaaaat's right, this is the stuff I do for y'all!)

This is the one pictured in the linen spray graphic, except it arrived clear in color instead of green. I remember there being a 'no color guarantee clause' when I was purchasing, and I really wanted green, but it didn't make or break the product. My heart leaps when I look at this lil sweetie, and it is getting a permanent place on my nightstand! The reviews on this were mixed, because the pump part is plastic and people were upset because they felt deceived by the metal color, but I'm OK with it because I knew what I was ordering and took the chance. Since purchasing the seller changed their description and good reviews are beginning to come in. The sprayer part is not quality, but it works delightfully, and as long as I don't pump straight Thieves through it and let my kids play soccer in my bedroom, I think it'll be OK.

I also purchased this sprayer because it's pretty and the entire sprayer is made of metal. It had a decent amount of good reviews. The negative review I remembered said that it leaked, and I did experience that, but it's not quite a leak--once I realized what the issue was it was easy to address. This bottle has a higher quality, metal, adjustable nozzle which is really cool, but it can leave a dangling drop, which then falls off and rolls down the bottle. I filled this one with Peace & Calming II so I am being careful about drying the tip after I spray, but both of these will be best seated on a little plate or a coaster.

If purchasing a gift for an oiler AND plant lover this looks awesome! This is a gift set with a completely metal sprayer and watering can which are handmade in England and also has a decent amount of good reviews. I wanted to buy it, but I think two is enough - for now. ;-)

There was one other I'd consider and it's in the A-store as well, the rest I searched through gave me reasons to skip them whether it was poor reviews or shipping costs. The A-store is accessible through the affiliate links or through 'shop now' on the Anointed By Abba page. Room Spray~Cinnamon Pine Cone

When I was testing this one out, my neighbor walked in my house, took a whiff and her whole face changed. She smiled and said, "It smells like Christmas!"

This is what I smell walking into the grocery store...Heavenly Holiday! There are rows of cinnamon scented pine cones outside and in years past I've purchased them. From now on, I am doing this the healthy, smart and saavy way...

I took a metal spray bottle and filled it with water, leaving room at the top to add oils and close with out spilling, and added:

10 drops of Young Living Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil &
5 drops of Young Living Pine Essential Oil

It is DIVINE!!!  Such a happy smell. Go ahead...try it!
Add a circle label tag if you'd like. Makes a nice gift!

"The Bomb" Lip Balm ;-)

"THE BOMB" LIP BALM

Before I ever began with Young Living I knew that we accidentally consumed the things we put on our lips. I've heard it's something like 5 pounds eaten in an average woman's lifetime.  And then there's the 'what's in it' part. If you're not up on that yet, check this out, 6 lip balm ingredients to avoid, but if you're good, then read on!

This recipe is tried and true. A combination of firmness and softness that goes on a little glossy, loves your lips and a touch of honey makes it extra nice. And if you swallow it, it's not full of toxic junk your body doesn't recognize. What I'm trying to say is... this balm is the bomb!

If  you've never made lip balm before, you have to try this. You will wonder why we haven't always done this instead of buying it! It's inexpensive, it's easy and it's fun.

**For fall I went with a drop of cinnamon in each tube and I LOVE IT!! A little warmth, a feeling of plumpness. And YUM! A drop or 2 of Stress Away goes well, too. :-)

I usually use duct tape on my tubes for decoration because it's cute, cheap and easy, but sometimes I add a little extra something. :-) There are also labels and tubes sold together as a package, and we have some in our A-store, along with the other ingredients you'd need whether you're making a few balms for yourself or hosting a make and take. :-)

PS--this is why I love to blog...

Excerpt from LiveClear blog, titled "What's in your lip balm? 6 scary ingredients to avoid"

Lip balm is a staple product for many of us.  Something we apply, and reapply many times over the course of a day.

I keep tubes scattered everywhere, so I never have far to reach when I want to reapply… purse, nightstand, glove compartment, kitchen drawer… you get the idea!

Did you know that many common lip balms contain several endocrine disruptors (parabens, BHT, and chemical sunscreens), coal tar dyes linked to cancer, artificial fragrance and flavor, and petroleum-derived oils that can lock it all in?

Like anything else that goes on my body, I want my lip balm to be natural and pure… free of any potentially harmful chemicals.

When looking for a natural lip balm, we all want something that will moisturize and protect, but without  using potentially harmful chemicals.  The skin on your lips is thin, so ingredients can absorb into the blood stream more easily than other areas.  Throughout a normal day, you are likely to consume some of your lip balm through eating or licking your lips.

Keep reading to learn the top 6 ingredients to avoid, compare the ingredients in common lip balms, and recommendations for natural lip balms you will love.

1.  PARABENS (methylparaben, butylparaben, more):

Parabens are known to interfere with hormone function, an effect that is linked to increased risk of breast cancer and reproductive toxicity (moreCampaign For Safe Cosmetics).  Parabens may also interfere with male reproductive functions.  In a surprising recent study, methylparaben was found to block the breast cancer drug tamoxifen (more).

2.  SYNTHETIC COLOR & DYES (FD&C Blue 1, Green 3, Yellow 5 & 6, Red 33):

Derived from coal tar, FD&C color pigments contain heavy metal salts that deposit toxins onto the skin, causing skin sensitivity and irritation. Animal studies have shown almost all FD &C colors to be carcinogenic.

3.  BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene):

BHT has been show to mimic estrogen (endocrine disruptor).  Is is linked to developmental and reproductive toxicity, and a possible carcinogen.

4.  FRAGRANCE and FLAVOR:

When you see “fragrance” or “flavor” on a label, read it as “hidden chemicals.” A major loophole in FDA’s federal law allows manufacturers include nearly any ingredient in their products under the name “fragrance” without actually listing the chemical.  Independent testing has found high levels of phthalates hiding under the label fragrance.  Phthalates are potent hormone disruptors linked to pre-term births, reproductive system birth defects in boys, decreased sperm counts in men, reduced female fertility, and a worsening of allergy and asthma symptoms.

5.  CHEMICAL SUNSCREENS (Oxybenzone, Octinoxate, Octisalate, Octocrylene, Avobenzone, Padimate O)

Chemical sunscreens, penetrate the skin and may disrupt the body’s hormone system. The most common chemical sunscreen, Oxybenzone, has been shown acts like estrogen in the body, alter sperm production in animals, and is associated with endometriosis in women.  If you want sun protection in your lip balm, look for ones with Zinc Oxide as the active ingredient. Read more about chemical sunscreens here.

6.  PETROLATUM (petroleum jelly, mineral oil):

In recent years the safety of petrolatum (petroleum jelly) in cosmetics has come into question. Because petrolatum is derived from petroleum (oil), it needs to be refined, and some refining methods use toxic compounds. If the petroleum jelly becomes contaminated during the manufacturing process, possible PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) and other carcinogenic agents may get into the jelly.  PAHs are considered potentially carcinogenic and have links to breast cancer.  Any traces of PAHs are supposed to be removed at the end of the refining process.  The European Union requires that the full refining history of a product be known and that the manufacturer be able to show that the “substance from which it is produced is not a carcinogen.”  No such requirements are in place in the US.  Another concern with petrolatum is that it creates an airtight barrier on the skin, not allowing for normal “breathing”.  This can act as a penetration enhancer, and if your lip balm contains any of the questionable ingredients listed above, absorption into the bloodstream will be increased.

By avoiding these 6 ingredients, you can dramatically decrease the amount of chemicals you put on (and end up in!) your body.

Cedarwood tip #2!

Cedarwood tip number 2: Thanks to my sponsor, Tracey Campbell with TLC One Drop At A Time, I have noticed thicker, longer, stronger eyelashes since implementing this tip! Add one drop of Young Living Cedarwood and one drop of Young Living Lavender to a brand new tube of mascara. Shake really well and enjoy the scent when you apply your mascara.

It makes me feel pretty special just catching a whiff. :-) I've also noticed my mascara lasting much longer. Like, ridiculously much longer. It could be the antibacterial properties in the oils helping to keep it viable, as well as the oil itself helping to keep it from drying out. This is one of those little 'forever' changes for me. Cheap, easy, and fun. Did I mention it smells like heaven? :-)
In case you missed it, check out
Cedarwood tip #1, which includes a link to learn a little more about this oil from Young Living!

Cedarwood for your hair? Tip #1

I've spoken about 'being on a journey' to reduce the amount of chemicals I expose myself and my family to, and it is a journey. I would not recommend trying to go completely chemical free immediately in a matter of weeks. LOL. That's just cray cray. Don't cause yourself undue stress. It undermines the healthier lifestyle we hope to achieve.

Instead change little things as they come up.  I'd like to share one change I really like. I add one drop of Cedarwood for every 1 ounce of shampoo. I like to use a sulfate free shampoo like this one in the picture. It really smells fabulous. Any shampoo will work, though.

Something that is important to mention is that when dealing with the scalp, you're dealing with a whole different kind of skin. We already know that our skin is our largest organ and takes in what goes on it all the time, right? Each of those hair follicles is a sort of 'entry' if you will, into the skin. So what goes on your scalp can be absorbed at a higher rate and more quickly...even more important to be 'cleaner and greener'.

Another tip I would like to offer related to this subject is that if you cannot use a safe product on your hair, and just for an example I occasionally use a conditioner that I know is not the safest, I suggest you just keep it away from your scalp as best you can. Focus on putting it on the ends of your hair. (That part is dead anyway!)

One of the wonderful things that I noticed while using Cedarwood in my shampoo is that my hair seemed to grow little faster and it feels a little healthier. On my 'to-do' list is sharing more information about Cedarwood, it's benefits, and how it's helped my family as soon as possible. In the meantime, I'd like to share that Cedarwood is the highest oxygenating essential oil. That's a pretty honorable title, considering oxygen is key to our cells health and vitality.
If you'd like to purchase Cedarwood or the Young Living Starter kit, information can be found

DIY Organic Vanilla Extract

Anointed By Abba shows you it's SO easy to make your own vanilla! Never worry about what's in it again. Add it to baking recipes, drinks, sugar scrubs, essential oil blends, perfumes and more!

In the photo, I called this a 'scent' because I was afraid to label this as an extract, but I soon learned that this is, in fact, an extract. I was adding it to essential oil blends and wearing it alone as perfume. (And PS, it's yummy:-) No better way to know what's in it than if you make it yourself. Too easy... We can all do this. #SRSLY Makes a great holiday gift, too!

Laura B had this to say: "We use organic vanilla beans split in half and let them soak in some vodka for about 2 weeks, shaking it daily. It makes all your recipes taste 100% better. We use it in everyday cooking....I've also done other flavors as well....lemon and or lime zest...super awesome!"

Oh, wow! See all the cool stuff we get to learn here?!? This is news to this suburban mommy!

I will say you must use quality vodka. I like Kirkland's from Costco. (Rumor is that it's made in the same facility as a fancy schmancy vodka we shall not name, but it's sort of like...dirty duck?) Reuse any kind of bottles you have, maybe you even have an empty glass vanilla extract bottle. If not, see links below to help make your DIYs easier from here on out! These & more available on the page "DIY VANILLA" in our A-store, as well as a good-looking choice for a storebought organic vanilla extract.

Updated 2 1/2 years later...this is the ONLY way to do vanilla. Enjoy!

100% Organic Pumpkin Spice Latte Sugar Scrub

My God-given sponsor, Tracey Campbell, hosted a 101 class in her home and she was so sweet to offer all of the attendees an opportunity to make the pumpkin spice sugar scrub
I featured here earlier in the month, except with REAL pumpkin in it. Hee hee!  That took it to a whoooole other level. It is DIVINE! Just add 1-2 Tbsp. of organic canned pumpkin--Try that!

Then I got to thinking... I remember seeing a pumpkin spice latte idea on the Essential Oils Recipes Facebook page.  Ahem...Are YOU thinking what I'M thinking?!?

Oh em gee! I twisted on that idea a lil bit too. Instead of adding ground coffee to the scrub, I added a Starbucks Via. (That's their line of instant coffee, and it's yum) Because, really, I don't need any more lil' exfoliaters in there, and cleaning up the grounds after a legit coffee scrub takes a minute or two....I just want to be transported to the lovely 'land of latte' and this totally fits the bill!

Here's what you need for a small 4 oz. jar like in the picture, and simply adjust if you'd like to make more.

1/2 c. Organic Sugar

2 Tbls. Organic Coconut Oil, melted
1 Tbls. Organic canned pumpkin

1 tsp. Organic Shea butter, melted
1/2 tsp. Organic Vanilla
fresh grated organic cinnamon (optional)
1-2 Tbsp instant coffee (Any instant coffee will do!)

And... 1 drop each: Young Living Nutmeg, Clove, Cardamom and Stress Away, and 2 drops of
Cinnamon Bark

Just mix in a glass or stainless bowl to your taste and spoon it up!  Into... the... jars... :-)
YES, OF COURSE I TASTED SOME...  YES, IT'S GOOD!  Yes, I am still tasing it right now....hee hee

Almost everything we used to make this can be found in our A-store.  Finding organic cinnamon and pumpkin should be easy enough on your own.  If not--LMK. We're also happy to answer questions. I also wanted to share that Tracey (she is so
stinkin' SMART!) uses a couple tiny crock pots to keep her coconut oil and shea butter liquid for our make and takes. Isn't that smart?!  I think something like this triple crock pot would be great. (Update-I bought it, I love it!) http://amzn.to/2d1Rz3e

Tracey also uses throwaway plastic table cloths in our work area. That must be part of why shes seems to enjoy our make n' takes as much as we do.  :-) If you don't have a canning jar funnel, what are you waiting for?!?  No more painfully slow spooning, just dump and smoosh! http://amzn.to/2cAIr7u PS--Today (9/16/16) the larger 8 oz jars are only $8.07 on Amazon. You're welcome. :-)

Click on the pictures or on the links to buy those from Amazon.

Of course if you need your Young Living Essential Oils starter kit (which allows you to purchase all your future essential oils at a 24% discount) click here to get that started, or to purchase just a few oils click here and choose retail.

OMGoodness, enjoy!!!!  :-)
I totally am, hee hee.

bath salts

Who doesn't love a good bath? I might have a few too many pics, because ME, ME, ME!!  Me loves a good bath!

Such a simple base recipe, 1/4 cup baking soda to every 1/2 cup epsom salts. These help disperse your oils in your tub! Plus, epsom salt is an oldie but a goody when it comes to helping relieve aches and pains.

I make the soda/salt mixture in gigantic batches and keep it in a covered container. It's so simple to add your favorite EO and have a lovely treat! It's also a great way to get the last EO out of your empty bottles. The salt sucks the oil right out of there!

Once it's all oily, I keep my bath salt in an apothecary jar like this, right next to the tub.

Because it's quick, inexpensive and always appreciated, it's great to keep on hand for a last minute gift, or even a well-thought out gift. Here's one clever way to package your relaxing bath salt for just that reason.

(link to the balm recipe)

No
matter what your needs--a make n take, gift giving or personal use, here are some great choices. These are also listed in our A-store on a page just for bath salt as well as the decorations.

As always, to order an oil or two, click here and choose retail or click here to learn more about signing up for a wholesale account with the Anointed By Abba team. (Terrific deal)

Thank you again Jessica Jackson with Oils of the Valley for creating this beautiful graphic. :-)

Awww yeah....happy soaking. :-)

Simple DIY Organic Toner

I can not stop spraying this on my face!!! Sigh... Sweetness. XOXO

Here's your simple Base Toner Recipe:

Young Living Essential Oils 4 drops each:
  • Elemi
  • Cedarwood
  • Lavender

I mentioned that it smells divine (G'head, diffuse it!) but it's a great combo for toner, too. The ingredients don't have to be all complicated with words that have 27 syllables in them to work! Here are some of the benefits of the oils that come from PLANTS:

Elemi: Its antiseptic properties make it useful for helping to heal skin conditions, cuts and wounds. It has a rejuvenating effect and is great for wrinkles. Also good for helping to reduce scarring and acne.

Totally unrelated trivial information: In the 20th century it became more difficult to get frankincense essential oil, drought and war being the main reasons, and so it also became more expensive. Elemi was often used in its place, and has since gained value in it's own right. In the plant world, elemi and frankincense are related, like cousins, they have similar properties and they actually smell really similar. The main chemical constituents of Elemi are: Elemol, elemicine, dipentene, terpineol, limonene and phillandrene.

Cedarwood: According to Dr. Axe, Cedarwood has antiseptic properties and defends the body against toxins. It is used on the skin to help the body combat wounds, scars or infections. Cedarwood essential oil protects skin pores from letting in dust or any harmful microbes into the body, which can lead to acne and skin infections. Cedarwood oil is also effective for tightening the facial skin and giving it a youthful appearance.

Cedarwood is also one of THE highest oxygenating oils. It's kinda epic, actually. Why do you think all those important,
ancient people had their temples built with Cedarwood when it had to come from so very far away?!?

Lavender: Widely known for its antimicrobial properties, lavender essential oil has a rich history of being used to speed the healing of burns, cuts, scrapes and wounds and a big part of this is because of it’s anti-microbial properties. Lavender oil has antioxidant characteristics and has a calming effect on the skin. And really, really mad people. :D (Keep some in your car!)

Toning should be part of the daily skin care routine - after cleansing and before moisturizing. I emphasize the 'should be' part, cuz...sometimes I'm just grateful that my skin got washed at all? Hee hee! But, if you want the info from esthetician, Tiffany Burnside, then you should totally do as I say and not as I do!

You should make these too... You will love them:
Lavender & Tea tree facial cleansing wipes While you're there you can also read my utter shock and awe when I realized that all along, it was chemical crap that was ruining my face! Anyway...

The bottles we used, along with the witch hazel, and even the decorative stickers (I KNOW, they're so cute!!) can be found in our A-store (Amazon) So why buy a toner with garbage in it when you can make something 5-star-spa quality for so little? Corporations don't have your best interests in mind...you do. I consider Young Living a company I hold stock in...and I appreciate everything about how they do business and produce oils. You can buy them here:

Multi-purpose Power Powder -with Young Living Essential Oil

Almost accurate! Each oil product I now make at home replaces HUNDREDS of chemicals. It's true that even oils are comprised of hundreds of chemical components, but the difference is...ahem...NATURE. Be sure to scroll to the verrrrry bottom of this post for a heartfelt question and another recipe.

I used to like to clean. A lot. I still enjoy it at times, when it's not rushed and it's done with love. I sure like cleaning more when it provides aromatherapy! That's why I'm nuts about this multi-purpose powder. It's nothing more than good old-fashioned baking soda and Young Living Essential Oils in a cute mason jar with a shaker top. I keep these stashed through out the house, and when it's time for something, I grab it because it's there! I use it for a non-toxic carpet freshener, as part of my super sink scrub, glass cooktop cleaner, (it can be used on a grill, too) all OVER in the bathrooms and when not in use, it just sits around smelling pretty! (Hee hee...so yeah...I keep one in my teenage son's room!)

MULTI PURPOSE POWER POWDER:

You're going to see the SAME ingredients listed with several uses, and many oils fit right in it. Thieves, Purification, Lemon, Orange, Citrus Fresh....which oils are you feeling like using today? Simply whisk together in a glass or stainless steel bowl, 8-10 drops of essential oil per cup of baking soda. If you like it stronger, (and I do!) go for it! There is no such thing as 'messing this recipe up', but I do want you to use your oil the wisest way for you. Always test your surfaces for discoloration etc, and use your noggin! < --- disclaimer pro

*CARPET:

Sprinkle and let it sit for 20 minutes or so and vacuum. It works GREAT - better than toxic carpet deodorizers or air fresheners.
If you're not sure why those are such a bad idea, check out this article from Dr. Axe. (If you can get past the obnoxious prompts and ads, that is. Sorry, Doc. Truth!) What goes on our floors may go more places than you care to imagine. Especially if you have pets or kids.

*SOFT SCRUB:

I made a paste from 2 Tablespoons of the multi-purpose powder, added 4 drops Young Living Lemon oil, and a 1/2 teaspoon of Young Living Thieves Dishwashing Liquid and then just added a little water to make it into a nicely textured paste. I scrubbed the sink with a paper towel and was amazed at how clean and bright it came out. Coffee stains, gone. It smelled AMAZING!!! Oh how I love thee, lemon oil! Where the scuff marks are concerned I did use a little elbow grease, but it's worth the trade for the harsh, toxic cleansers considering that two of my children have what I'll call a little trouble breathing. Ladies 'back in the day' before toxic garbage cleaners....they had 'guns', if you know what I mean... That's a good thing! Plus, I still had to scrub with the harsh cleaners too.

Tip: for extra tough stains, add a bit of hydrogen peroxide to your cleaning cloth or surface. (You're going to want to click on that one)

MOST of the time, all I do is sprinkle some of the powder in a wet sink and let it sit! My favorite part about doing that, besides being easy....and besides the smell of sunshine and happiness, is that I get to see what it pulls out of the sink. It shows up in the powder! The white powder will turn various shades of brown, grey, and yuck, depending on what was staining that sink. Try it!

Note: In my experience premixing the wet & dry is not as effective or easy to work with. The oomph is missing, it separates, it clumps. I like keeping mine dry and adding desired liquids as needed.

My OTHER favorite part about this is that what I rinse down the sink is just going to flow into the sewage system and do more good! Just like what we wash down the sink that ISN'T good gets into our food and water supply. :-/ I don't mean to send you on an all-expense paid guilt-trip, it's just that we KNOW better now and it's time to DO better.

*TOILET:

Sprinkle, brush & flush. The end. :-) (I love Tea Tree for toity)

*GLASS COOKTOP & STOVE CLEANER:

Yet ANOTHER USE
for baking soda and EO! How about a safe glass cooktop cleaner made with Young Living Lemon Essential Oil and baking soda!? WHAT a savings in dollars and toxins! almost can't believe it worked, but... you already know!! I used the MULTI PURPOSE POWER POWDER AS IS and added extra oil to moisten. Orange worked even better than lemon. Now tell me...could you scrub your stove with Carpet Fresh?

*Just mentioning, not suggesting, I have seen a straight edged razor tool used to remove the top layers of burnt crud on a glass cooktop.* I've done that too, but I prefer not to let mine get that bad. I wanted to give baking soda and EO a try on my cooktop after seeing this:

*GRILL, STOVE & OVEN CLEANER:

This will work on your oven and stove, too. I have not used this on my grill yet, but it came from YL and I've learned that I can trust them. Looks like vinegar is another smart option to moisten this simple mixture of baking soda and EO with, in addition to Thieves dish soap or even Thieves cleaner, in case it wasn't OBVI- so many safe and effective choices! Why do we support commercial cleaning companies again? Because they care about our well being? Or the planet? Or is it their charity work?

*STORAGE:

Mason jars are way cuter than the storebought chemical cleaner bottles/cans anyway, they save our landfills and this is so CHEAP! Heck yeah! If you have a 'parmesean' shaker lid try that for a jar topper. I hear it works!

Another option for storage and practical usage is adding one of these ReCap shaker tops to a mason jar of the size of my choice. Very smart. They make great giveaways at your classes and for non-oily people, too.

If you're worried about using GLASS while cleaning, I get it. A little tip for glass jars & bottles is to cover them in decorative duct tape. :-) That makes your glass shatterproof, and pretty!
