A girl can only do so much with her over ripe bananas, and although we love the Einkorn banana bread recipe, we could use more options and I'm thrilled with this shake! My boys laughed themselves silly when I pulled these black bananas out of the freezer, but they were soon eating their words. 😉 Quite literally...
I tried freezing the nanners a few different ways--right in the skin, and in a Ziploc. I'm liking the in-the-skin option. With a slit through the skin lengthwise, it peeled off pretty easily when I was ready to use the banana. A little water helps with the skin removal too, or another method is simply using a potato peeler. The white blob in the picture above is actually the frozen bananas in a snack sized Ziploc. Putting the bananas into a Ziploc prior to freezing was admittedly easier, but if I can spare some plastic in our lives, I'm doing it.
Use a 1/2 or a whole frozen banana, (I am using the whole thing, dang it!) ice cubes, 2 scoops of YL Pure Protein Complete (chocolate) and fill the rest with a nut milk, like cashew milk (I 💖 cashew milk!!) and blend well.
The result is AMAZING! It has the consistency of pudding, and man, we are fighting over these shakes in my household. I could use more of that and less fights over Oreos & ice cream, right? Cheers!!
