Sleepy Time Body Butter

Aww-haw yeah. Kids making you cray cray? Or LIFE? Guess what? There's a secret weapon for relaxation at nigh-nigh time that works like a charm. Try making up a lil Sleepy Time Body Butter. Mommy might even like it for herself! --- > This Mommy did! < ---

I got a lil bit excited when Roman Chamomile came back in stock, didn't you? Remember that one time? LOL. I felt all fancy (like a queen) and went buckaroo bonzai diffusing this blend every night for about a month straight. This diffuser recipe was created after I fell in love with Tranquil roll-on, but unfortunately it coincided with a near  two-year period of time that Roman Chamomile was not in stock. Meh. :( Disappointing, but that's going to happen from time to time when we deal with nature and high standards. I was truly delighted to have this scent wafting through my budoir as soon the sun went down... Until I used up a whole bottle of Roman Chamomile!

Sooo, I won't be doing that again anytime soon. I wanted to play with body butter recipes anyway, so making a Sleepy Time Body Butter sounded like a smart idea. The oil goes much further like this.

The boring details... Skip to the bottom if you just want the recipe already!
Click here if you're looking for a great deal on glass jars on Amazon.

I started by melting down equal parts mango butter, shea butter and coconut oil.

Looking for a twist on the body butter base, I added one part of aloe vera gel and refrigerated to harden. After about an hour it looked like this.

I added 8 drops each of Cedarwood, Lavender and Roman Chamomile & blended with my hand mixer. It made a lovely looking cream, but it wasn't body butter. It's consistency was too fragile, melting immediately on contact. :-/

If you've read the blog called Better Body Butter you know there's no need to fret! :-) I re-melted the mixture over super low heat and added 2 parts organic beeswax pastilles. Once it melted and rehardened I whipped it again. (Psst. If you have not read the Better Body Butter post, you will want to...it. is. a. keeper.)

That batch got more firm as it sat. The consistency reminded me of butter cream frosting that's been in contact with air for a while...like your birthday cake 2 days later? LOL. Or like butter balls that just came out of the fridge! I like it like that cuz...Arizona? And because I like having a little more time to spread it around. If it melts in too quickly, we get 'greasy' and we don't WANT greasy!

So I remade the recipe using only 1 part beeswax (Looky there. Ended up with EQUAL parts! I LOVE using equal parts!!) and it came out great. It has a consistency like a softened stick of butter. ;-) But not too soft, where it's like phhhbbbthbbt. More like an almost-room-temperature stick of butter. Mmhmm! Tested this specifically for you peeps in the cooler climates, and my bet is more people will like the recipe like this. :-)  So there you go... A recipe for me, a recipe for you.

For the sleepy time scent (and effect) I added 8 drops each Cedarwood, Lavender and Roman Chamomile. If you don't have Young Living Roman Chamomile, use what you do have! Lavender and Cedarwood are a pretty darn delightful duo. Click here to see AMAZING information about Young Living Lavender. (Spoiler alert: when France needed help reviving their lavender, they came to Young Living!) I'm sorry, but I'd rather pull my skin off with tiny tweezers than use another brand... That's how big the difference is. You may as well use body butter from a big chain store with 'fragrance' in it!

Why not be a part of the shift away from lab-created junk and toward all that is instinctively good?

Post 6 - Slique challenge -growing up the Inner Winner

Thursday, January 19th, 2017 - Today was different and interesting. When I am my best me, I like my early morning workouts. Like 6:00 AM early. Sometimes 5:00. I like to get it out of the way, feel that energy, and go with that momentum for as long as I can. Days I do that I feel like a superhuman. Mommy. Lady.

I also like to change things up with activities and times, but more than anything, I love working out with a friend. I was invited to work out with a super fun girl at 9 AM, which for my schedule on this day was the latest I was comfortable with. When I showed up, the class was full, I couldn't get in and I thought, 'OK. No worries. I'll go home and still get a 45 minute workout and shower before I go to my next appointment.' Love that flexible thinker!

I got home and then the thought that is death to all things good crept in--"I just want to edit this one little thing in a blog". 'HAHAha!', said the universe. I logged onto Facebook to get something I shared, and what I saw was horrifying to me. Someone I don't know had used - not only a graphic that I worked hard on and shared on the Anointed By Abba Facebook page (it was kind of fancy with an embedded video in it) but they used my words too, as if they were their own! Except for the part with the sponsor & enroller ID. HA! They took mine out & put theirs in. And people were responding to it.

Not that any distributor's team size would make this kind of thing OK - but, for the record I don't have a huge team of people doing the 'oil thing' with me and I don't make anything blogging. (Well not yet, anyway. :-) But money is not the reason I do what I do. I do it because I found out I love blogging and I do it because I love helping people discover what I have discovered using these oils. The choice to do Young Living as a business was made with the intention of empowering my team members in every way possible. I hope I always love doing this, but that incident upset me and yeah, it put a wrinkle in my day. (#learning!) Funny thing is, if people ask, I am honored to share my ideas. Because at the end of the day, don't we all just want to be appreciated for being who we are and for what we do? (hint: the answer is 'yes') Maybe more on that subject some other time. :-) Life goes on, yes?

Back to the day... Because of that hiccup, I ended up not working out at home either, but thankfully refused to miss my appointment, and ended up going out & about in the world after rolling out of bed, in my workout clothes, unshowered, and therefore feeling...womp womp.

Because that would also mean I'd have to go on to my daughter's spelling bee at 4:00 like this, and feeling like a big phony in the workout clothes that I never worked out in! But in between cooking dinner, washing dishes, picking up high schoolers and getting my nose hair & mustache waxed off (I know - weird sequence of events) I slapped on a little makeup and I went. Because it wasn't about me, it was about my sweetie girl. πŸ’•She was so dreading this spelling bee! Lol. And she did a great job. I'm so very proud of her. ☺️

Anyhoo, I found a way to work out at 6 o'clock (I want to say 'at night'πŸ˜†) PM - and I think that's fabulous. Way to go, me! Not sure I would have done that, had I not had some kind of motivation & accountability like the Slique in 60 challenge, so I encourage you to sign up for SOMETHING or hook up with SOMEONE that will hold you accountable. Even if it's with an online friend. Whether it's fitting in a workout or showing up somewhere we said we would, ultimately we will do what we want to do...amIright?!

So, during this 'night time' workout on the treadmill I could feel the fat bulging over the sides of my tight sports bra (and not in a sexy kind of way, like in an armpit fatroll kind of way) brushing up against the bare skin on the inside of my bigger-than-I-remembered arms, as I trudged uphill on the treadmill. I'd feel it eeeevery time I'd stride. But the 'brush' that would normally send me off on an all expense paid guilt trip, did not. Because I know I am doing something about it, it made me feel... awesome. πŸ˜„ Brush, brush. "You can't stay here armpit fatroll! I decided. You're leaving." With every stride and every brush. And it wasn't long before the treadmill...became my catwalk. :-)

I'm grateful for the entire series of events -  happy moments,
hiccups and all because it provided me the opportunity to do the right thing. Go on with my life and be happy about how wonderful it really is! This is what I call 'growing up the inner winner'. God gives us lots of chances in life to not get caught up in this small stuff and instead have faith that all is well and happening according to His plan. The more we make the right decisions when the chips are down, (mmmm...chips) the more our inner winner will grow.

And now editing this one month later, it's very interesting to take a look back, because exercise has once again become a habit I absolutely crave. HOW AWESOME IS THAT!? Thank you, Lord! :-)

The photo here is p
art of my vision board for 2017. I would love to help others 'win at wellness' and reach their health goals in any way I can. I pray God brings me my people!

Love it, share it - smart!

So you want to share samples with your besties, but don't want to give away your whole oil stash? I get it! I love this idea that comes from a cross line member. You can put a couple grains of coarse sea salt into a sample bottle to absorb and hold the oil, and then you can get away with using just one drop! Isn't that smart? I love that idea! Especially when it comes to sharing my pricier oils (including the blends we try not to covet?!?) πŸ˜‚ This is a perfect solution to allow someone to be able to check out aromatic benefits without a lot of oil, and works great for shipping across miles. No leaking.
If you don't have sample bottles, these are a great price on Amazon.

36 - 2 ml amber glass sample bottles with orifice reducers & 2 glass droppers currently $9.99

Pink Himalayan Sea salt? This never goes to waste in my house. Also perfy for bath soaks, which I love to add EO to and give as gifts. If you don't know why this salt is such a big deal, maybe skim through the highlights of this little blog about Pink Himalayan Sea Salt. I had to share the info because I had such a huge revelation. If you'd like to buy some right from your couch you can get it from Amazon for a good price.

2.2 lb large grain, coarse, food grade Pink Himalayan Sea Salt $9.25

Post 5 - Slique Essence, tea, and gum!

Before I share product information about Slique tea and Slique gum, I'd like to share a blog I wrote about frankincense resin. THAT is the star ingredient of Slique gum and tea, and the reasons why are in it! Take a quick look through it --- > here.

Did you catch those nuggets in paragraphs 4, 5 & 6? This is good stuff! You might want to go back and take in the video of our founder, Gary Young, sharing information about harvesting frankincense too. Many years ago he took a group of Young Living Diamonds on a well-deserved trip to
Oman to show them Boswelia trees and how the resin is collected firsthand. I always enjoy learning from an expert, don't you? Even though we are larger now, Young Living still operates this way. When people do a great job of sharing the benefits of the oils, they get to go on all expense paid trips to various farms and get to interact with this dynamic family. I love that about YL!

Official Young Living Product information: Slique Tea is an exotic drink from Young Living that has been formulated with natural ingredients to help support individual weight goals. This blend is rich in flavonoids, a dietary compound generally associated with helping maintain certain normal, healthy body functions. It also contains polyphenols, which may be useful as part of a guilt-free weight-management regimen when combined with a healthy diet and physical activity. This unique blend is enhanced with 100% pure therapeutic grade Frankincense powder.

My information: Frankincense resin might give you the biggest jolt of energy you ever remember and this tea is made with it in powdered form. Drink it and you might not care if you ever eat again! You may also feel joyful for absolutely no reason at all. Be warned, your joy may be contagious. :-) Very notable: I do not feel jittery when I use this or any of Young Living's energy products, just solid, happy, buzzy energy. The tea tastes pretty good, too. It's got a hint of cacao as well as vanilla. I drink mine unsweetened, so it might taste even better with a little stevia. And for whatever it's worth, I've heard that some people use their tea bags more than once to get every last bit of goodness out of them.  ;-)

Official information about Slique gum - Ancient travelers throughout the Middle East used raw frankincense resin for its nutritional content and ability to help control hunger. Slique™ Gum offers those same benefits in a modern delivery system that helps control food cravings and improve oral health.

My information: Benefits outweight the taste. LOL. I suggest googling oral health frankincense. Amazing information! Let me know if I can introduce you to Frank! ;-)

I don't really like the taste of this gum. That's the truth. But I know what it DOES and that makes me like chewing it despite the taste. For me it's n
oticeably reduced hunger and women will do just about anything to feel skinny, won't we? ;-) I chew because I have things to do, an appetite to quell, and pants to fit in!

"Frankinbreath" warning - Sooo, one day I was past my lunch time, starving, and needed to have a consult before taking home my very first pair of eyeglasses (another blog needed - HERE). My stomach was doing the embarrassingly noisy growl when I remembered the gum was in my purse, so I popped a piece from the blister pack and started chewing. It immediately calmed my hunger allowing me to listen to important information, and along with that came a burst of energy. I started telling the eye guy all about the frankincense gum and he said, "Oh, that's what that smell is." I was kind of horrified, but he thought it smelled good, so...OK. Whatevs. Now that won't stop us girls from chewing this, because let's be honest - we would eat dung if it would make us skinny. AmIRight? But at least YOU, the reader, can be armed with this information now. You're welcome.

Yaaas, I love and recommend the Slique essence essential oil! It is really tasty. And it probably makes your breath smell yummy! More information about how I use Slique Essence is in Post 4 - First full Slique week.

Slique is so amazing that Young Living offers a 60 day guarantee. Nobody else does that! To read about it, scroll down to the bottom of the page after clicking here --- > 60 day guarantee details.

Post 4 Slique challenge 2017, 1st full week 1/9/17-1/16/17 - Slique bars

Yes, when Mommy is on a diet it can be scary. I can be grouchy at times. I might even swear a little. Because I'm getting less sleep, putting out more physical exertion and crunching carrots when I just want to eat cows that have been cooked over fire. Y'know? The fact that hard work pays off keeps me going. And now I have tools to help put pep in my step! I have more energy than before I started this Slique challenge, for sure. And after some product research, I know why.

The first thing I noticed when I started taking CitraSlim caps is energy. Seems like the boost afforded me lots of small changes and I get to see glimpses of my strongest, best self. She can't hide from me! One of the things I lost over the last year and a half, was the oomph to follow through & finish tasks the way I used to. This may seem like a silly example, but it will make my point sufficiently. I pulled tags off new clothes & tossed them on my dresser. As I walked past on my way out of the closet, I swept them up & tossed in the trash (along with a lint roller sticky sheet). Big freakin' deal, right? It was a big enough deal for me to notice. It's the pep in my step. ;-)

Because a month ago I'd let it sit there until it pissed me off enough to pick it up. (I told you this would sound silly!) But here's the deal... These little things, multiplied over many times a day, over several days (then multiplied by the number of people in the household, cuz they will do as you DO and not as you SAY) ...add up!! Before I know it I'm buried in clutter of little things I could have finished, but... I didn't feel like it. Now they're not little things, they're little piles.

What I know fo sho... when it comes to housecleaning, finances and healthy weight - a lot of little maintenance is SO much easier than cleaning up a big, giant mess. So I am simply requiring more of myself in every area of my life and Slique is helping me.

Here's what happened during the week:

1/11/17 It's only day 3 and I'm pissed at myself because slept thru my workout time slot. Useless energy, be gone! I WILL fit it in somewhere else! It'd help if I slept through and not ate while in a sleep coma. The struggle with night eating is real! But I have conquered this beotch before and it begins with a simple switch of forcing myself to eat breakfast and ends with me saying 'no' to myself at the end of the night. I started working on this last week and hallelujah, I see some fruit from the labor. I woke up hungry for a change!

Slique shakes are helping me, here. On a busy morning I take a blender bottle, water and a shake packet with me on the road if I must. Get it in where ya fit it in! And I must, because my body is smarter than I want to admit. It actually won't burn calories until it it knows... we aint starvin'! Yep. We're hard wired on a physiological level to preserve energy in times of famine, soo if you think skipping breakfast is saving you calories, you're really setting yourself up for failure in several ways. This is just one. Moral of the story? YES, breakfast. Every. Day.

Since becoming interested in Instagram I love creating these memes. Hee hee! But if I'm not careful, before I know it a whole afternoon is gone. Finding that balance in what I have to do and what I want to do is a constant struggle... Somebody say Oola?  : ) When God speaks to me I don't always understand what I'm doing or why, I'm just doing. But when it comes together it sure hits home.

1/12/17 I got up late. It's too cold. I'm alone. I'm too tired. I don't have time. It's too hard. I'm too old. Guilty of using all of them for why I can't accomplish my #FitnessGoals, my #familygoals, my #businessgoals and my emotional and #spiritualgoals. But every day I skip the bullshirt and work through it I am exercising my #InnerWinner and she is getting stronger than the excuses. Go mommy. Go.

Don't. Stop. #LearnInAction. There's no need to be an expert. #Recover InAction. Physical, emotional, spiritual--there will always be some source of pain. Just. Don't. Stop.

And that's golden advice. No excuses, get it done. Don't quit because it's hard or because something hurts. I'm talking emotional here, not a sprained ankle. Keep pushing through because you're stronger than that. You're better than that. There's something better for you when you keep the faith in the Lord and proceed with JOY.

Another facet of my best me multi-tasks well. Because I'm also focused on bringing back exercise right now I'm looking for those opportunities. Truth is, I have to work harder than some people do to be lean. No whining about it, it's just how it is and I accept. Lean muscle mass is what burns calories when you're sitting on your royal hiney, so I looked for and found ways to incorporate building muscle where I wasn't before. Example, doing squats while I'm brushing my teeth. Also, requiring physical breaktime from the computer to create some energy, a la Tony Robbins. Get it in where ya fit it in!

A friend of mine posted this & I'll let it speak for itself: Exercise is so my drug - I don't know why I ever give it up! I've had issues with anxiety & slight depression (mostly from cycle changes) but that all goes away when I workout! It's the most under-utilized anti-depressant/anti-anxiety drug! Not bragging but I know people that it can really help & I only like to share to inspire. People sharing the same have inspired me ❤.

Just in case you've fogotten. :-)

1/12/17 I'm down 2 lbs and feeling so much more energy all day. (Although My Fitness Pal wants me to know that I'm really up 7 pounds) Chores at home are getting easier, workouts are getting more enjoyable, mood & ability to handle stress is better, all of that in just 2 weeks of focusing on behavior and a few days of Slique! That's exciting! I am eating better & now that I'm tracking, I'm eating a lot less, but still LOTS of room to improve. What's important is that I am making changes that I can keep. If I try to eat 'crazy perfect' I won't be able to sustain it and it's a surefire way to end up on a binge. Which I'm familiar with...sometimes at night. :-/ (And I'm just noticing that My Fitness Pal doesn't want me to forget that I'm closer to 50 than I am 40, and shouldn't have carbs. Hey, THANKS, Pal!)

Another tool in the box are the Slique bars... I love them! I remember years ago before I did YL, a friend (who is not known for the greatest health but I love her anyway) had the Slique bars at her house because of a YL promotion. She gave them to me with this disgusted look on her face... I'm LMAO recalling this. She said, "take these home with you. They're... bird seed bars." LMAO. Ooh, bless her heart. I loved them back then and I love them now! They're hella healthy, satisfying and portable for on the road.

1/13 I added the Slique tea and gum in...And WOW! Information about that is coming soon in it's own blog.

And if this stuff works... Game on. It sho do taste good!!! Slique Essence is helping me drink lots of water. Which helps my systems function better. Not having enough water in your chemical and food-laden body is like adding dirty clothes & soap to the washing machine without the water. It'll just gunk up. So be sure to give your system plenty to flush itself out with. If you didn't see the information about water in post 2 you'll want to look it over. The before and after pics are kinda epic. Additionally, the oils in Slique Essence help the body to release fat. The first day I used this, let's just say my system let me know it was cleaning itself out. And that's what we want. If your system is slow and gunked up, You'll be bloated and constipated, your body will suck out every last calorie in the food you consume, but it will also have a hard time absorbing food's nutrients. There's a huge connection between our gut health and our brain health, something I hope to explore and blog about in the future.

Ooh, if you get to eat out, take advantage of the opportunity to order the healthy stuff that tastes good. Lol. I get good ideas from restaurants, too.

1/14/17 Appreciating a beautiful view at lunch with my beautiful friend, Becky. I was reminded that G
od's way is almost never my way. To stay in peace and let God do for you what you can not do for yourself. This is what 'Be still, and know that I am God' is all about.

1/15/17 One full week now and all the puffiness is gone from my face! I noticed when I woke up this morning that I immediately got rid of a LOT of fluid. And it was my face! HA! This is exciting, because it's the way my body functioned when I was thinner. :-) Every morning I peed a lot. Not lately! I don't know
why these things happen, but I definitely notice changes like that.

Had to force myself to have breakfast this morning though. Sigh...because I ate late last night.
I'm LUCKY I peed off my chipmunk cheeks! Maybe because what I ate was a good choice -- plain albacore tuna and Van's gluten free roasted veggie crisps instead of what I was craving, which was toast...with butter. Mmm. In my defense though, eating late was the better option, because without that I would have been 900 cal under goal and I don't think My Fitness Pal will even let you log that without some kind of warning. You'll get like, a 'Flat Stanley Alert' or something.

I am just learning to go really light if you must dine late like that, because digesting food at night time is confusing to your body. It wants to be awake during that process, and many people have a disturbed sleep cycle, rather than restful one if they eat before bed. Learning, learning!

These are the things that motivate me, right here! People NEED great health for a great life. Looking forward to seeing this work, myself! Young Living rolled out a Slique Starter Kit choice too.
