- Remove all dried on or caked foods.
- 1 cup of vinegar on the top rack above the detergent dispenser door
- 2 tablespoons of baking soda in the detergent door
- 5- 6 drops of thieves on top of the baking soda.
May also add a couple of drops of essential lemon oil if desired. Run dishwasher and dry and look at the magic afterwards. It's amazing!
I thought it was such a great idea for anyone looking for a non-Borax or non-citric acid option, but it sounded too easy I guess. LOL. So I asked, "I'm confused...do you leave the cup of vinegar just sitting up there full?"
"Yes, Anointed by Abba, just fill a coffee cup full of vinegar and put it above the detergent door on the top rack above the baking soda. The hot water will hit this cup of vinegar splashing it all down onto the baking soda so at the end of the wash, there will be a full cup of water in the cup so just dump that out. Hope you ladies love this recipe as much as I do. I never plan on buying store bought dishwasher detergent again. Don't forget to do 5-6 drops of thieves on the baking soda. And may add 2 drops of lemon essential oil."
So I had to try it, and you already know how I feel. :-) After my wash cycle was complete, the cup of vinegar up top was now filled with clean water and I could smell essential oil. :-) We washed dishes, in the dishwasher, with no chemicals. WOW! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Sandy Cowart!
Sandy says, "You're very welcome! It's amazing, nontoxic, very safe and works amazingly. You will be surprised at how clean and shiny your dishes will be and there's no spots." She is right. I am amazed. My comment to Sandy was "Amen?! 😂 Researching for the blog and learning about the chemicals really freaked me out." So, how many boxes of nasty chemical dishwasher soap can we leave on the grocery store shelves?? This is how WE can have an impact on our global environment, and have a voice in who gets our dollars. Now, try it for your selves and then GO, share this with people!
